Meath Senior Road Relay Championships

Great performances all round from each member of the Ratoath a/c team in the Meath senior road relay championships on Tuesday 9th May at Bohermeen.

An excellent opening  800m leg  (2 min 06 sec ) from Naoise Mckenna set the tone as he handed over to Alex Hunter a close second at the change over. Alex then forged ahead on the tough 1 mile leg with a 4 min 56 sec posting to give us a 20m lead. Confusion reigned on the 3rd leg as the athletes were mistakenly sent out on the 2 mile leg but teak tough Ciaran Quinn (10 min 47 sec) still maintained a 10m lead as he handed over to teammate Ciaran Crowther for the final 2 mile leg. Another strong performance from Ciaran ( 10 min 49 sec ) saw him hold off Trim a/c in a sprint finish for second team behind a very strong Bohermeen team led by the experienced Rennick's brothers

This is the first occasion the club has managed to medal at this competition and hopefully next year we will also be able to field a ladies team
