Spectators are very welcome Please respect Fairyhouse Racecourse policy of NO DOGS in Fairyhouse grounds.

Time limit: The race must be completed within 3 hours. all road traffic safety measures must be removed from the course including our officials. 


PARKING: is a breeze with 10,000 free car parking spaces 

Available at Fairyhouse Racecourse close to race start and finish 

The Entrance into Fairyhouse racecourse will be closed before race start please ensure to arrive in plenty of time.  there will be traffic delays with Stop/Go System along the Fairyhouse Road so add extra time for traffic delays getting into the venue.


TRANSFERS: For those wishing to transfer road race entry

Race Numbers and t-shirts have been posted out by Myrunresults.com on Friday to all who entered up until last Thursday the 5th and they will arrive this week. For those who entered after Thursday or have not received their number by Friday eve you can pick it up at the Time list below
Anyone transferring will need to give their number to the new participant once they receive it in the post. 

No replacement numbers will be given for transferred numbers. This would be classed as a new entry.

SPECTATOR ACCESS TO FAIRYHOUSE

Please respect Fairyhouse Racecourse policy of NO DOGS ALLOWED in Fairyhouse grounds

Spectators can access Fairyhouse at any time during the race. HOWEVER, there will be traffic delays with Stop/Go System along the Fairyhouse Road so that is where delays will be.

Entrance: You will enter through the middle gate as the main gate will be closed to runners while the race is on Stewards will direct you. There is plenty of parking 

Approximately 600-800m from parking area to the finish line depending on where you park. 

Mile 11 (which is also a water stations) is just inside the main gate is a nice spot to see participants running by and only 400m approximately to the finish line where you can stand in the iconic Fairyhouse Grandstand to view runners coming across the finish line.

 

 

REFRESHMENTS

Ratoath AC have a refreshments area in the Jameson building or alternatively 

The Stirrup Cup is a mobile Cafe at the 11 mile mark that sells nice Teas/Coffees/ Acai Bowls / Sandwiches etc

WATER STATIONS

4 water stations around the route @ Mile 3, 6, 9 and 11 - There will also be a water station after the finish line and Water bottles will also be in your Spar goodie bag

This year we are trialing the use of water bottles

Water bottles will be provided at all our water stations for all participants this year courtesy of Hanlon's Supervalu Ratoath. This will be a trial year. We strongly request all runners to use the skip bags on the route to throw bottles into. Do not throw bottles or gel wrappers into ditches or on the ground please. 

If it is successful this year we can try to continue this, otherwise we will have to revert to using disposable paper cups.

Skip bags will be placed 500m and 700m from each water station - After that please

 carry bottle to the next water station. Many thanks for your support in this trial.  


Hydrate Hydrate Hydrate be sure to have your body fully hydrated before you step on the start line. 



 

MEDICAL:is being provided by the Meath Civil Defence. 

During the race If you require medical attention or are not feeling up to completing the race for any reason please notify any steward along the route or any of the cyclists who will contact HQ and will come to your assistance.







SHOWERS: There are no shower facilities

Our Half Marathon starts at the entrance to Fairyhouse Race Course then left out onto the flat roads of County Meath showcasing a Fast, Flat & PB focused course for participants while finishing with one lap of Fairyhouse race course and then a sprint finish under the finish line in front of the Iconic Fairyhouse Grandstand.


The course is marked in miles plus  1K - 5K -10K & 15K

Ratoath AC Half Marathon Route Overview


Fairyhouse Racecourse will host the Ratoath AC Half Marathon. The races will start and finish at the venue. The car park, Race HQ and toilet facilities will all be accessible within minutes of the start & finish area. Race directions will be sign posted in addition to mile markers and marshals along the route.

Fairyhouse Racecourse – Did you know that the first race meet was held in 1848 and in 1870 the first Irish Grand National Steeplechase was held at this famous venue. 

Race Start: The half marathon will start just inside the secondary entrance which is to the right of the two main entrances to Fairyhouse Race Course. Runners will run out this gate and take a left hand turn onto the Fairyhouse Road (R155) in the direction of Dunboyne.

Mile 1-3: Will see the runners may their way along the R155 and will take the second left. Runners will make their way along this quiet country road and wind their way along the route passing the 1st water station and the Caulstown Christmas Tree Farm on route. 

Mile 3-6: After 3.50 miles runners will take a left turn at the T-Junction and continue along this road as they continue their way towards the village of Kilbride passing Ballintry Stud, runners will approach a T junction and a left turn will take them into the village of Kilbride where a water station will greet the runners at Sweeney’s Pub! A porta loo is also available in the car park of Sweeney's pub 

Sweeneys Pub - was one of several locations in Meath used in RTE’s first rural drama series ‘The Riordans’ which ran from 1965-1979 and starred Gabriel Byrne 

Mile 6-9: After leaving the passing the water station located at Sweeneys Pub runners now make their way back towards Ratoath via the Kilbride Road continuing straight along the road until they reach Glascarn Laneat 8.65 miles. Runners take a left turn onto the lane and meander along this road where they will pass another water station at 9.50 miles. Runners continue along the lane until they reach the T-Junction just outside the village of Ratoath and turn left back in the direction of Fairyhouse at 10.25 miles. 

Glascarn Lane – is part of an historical Bridle Path (walking route) that led British soldiers to/from Fairyhouse to the village of Ratoath in the early 20th century

Mile 10-11: Runners now head for home and make their way towards Fairyhouse. Runners will turn into Fairyhouse via the main entrance at 11.30 miles where there will also be another water station located. 

Mile 11-13: Runners now inside the confines of the venue will make their way towards the race track completing a full circuit of the famous racecourse (on the tarmac ambulance track). The final leg of the journey sees the runners make their way into the grandstand where the finish line awaits.

Directions :

Getting to Fairyhouse by car


From the North

Follow Motorway (M1) and exit at Junction 10 and then take the signs for slane on the N51. Enter Slane and take the N 2 for Dublin, and proceed for approx 20 miles and at turn right at junction with R155 (signposted Ratoath). Forward over crossroads at Ratoath and Fairyhouse Racecourse is located on the left.


From Dublin

From the City Centre take N3 towards Navan, passing Blanchardstown Shopping Centre on your left. Proceed for approx. 6 miles on the new M3 and take EXIT 5 for Ratoath/Fairyhouse. Follow signs for Fairyhouse, turn right onto R155 and proceed for two miles. Fairyhouse Racecourse is located on the right.


From the West

After Enfield take Motorway (M4) Dublin. At roundabout (signposted M50 Northbound) take first exit to join Motorway (M50). Proceed through toll exiting onto N3 (Cavan/Navan). Proceed forward for approx. 6 miles on the new M3 and take EXIT 5 for Ratoath / Fairyhouse. Follow signs for Fairyhouse, turn right onto R155 and proceed for two miles. Fairyhouse Racecourse is located on the right.


From the South

Take N7 towards Dublin, at Red Cow roundabout take M50 Northbound. Proceed through toll exiting onto N3 (Cavan/Navan). Proceed forward for approx. 6 miles on the new M3 and take EXIT 5 for Ratoath / Fairyhouse. Follow signs for Fairyhouse, turn right onto R155 and proceed for two miles. Fairyhouse Racecourse is located on the right.
