MSB St Patrick's Day 5 k

Ciaran Crowther was our sole representative in the MSB 5k on St Patrick's day. Ciaran finished 7th junior in 17 min 09 sec and set a new PB in the process. Excellent running, especially from an athlete that is just "ticking over" as he puts the finishing touches to his studies in preparation for the Leaving certificate later on in the year. A sub 17 min 5k cannot be far off the horizon.

National Masters Indoor Championships

Once again Siobheal Murray dominated the women's masters high jump with a 1.45m leading performance. Like good wine, she gets better year on year. Peter  Doherty always manages to produce his best for the nationals despite not having the best of preparations as he focuses more on coaching these days. Peter took two silvers in the 60m and 200m with times of 7.72 sec and 25.03 sec, respectively. John Wallace was another to medal. He won bronze  with a throw of 5.56m in the weight for distance. Hugh Kelly was just out of the medals in his age category but his 200m time of 25.33 sec was a new indoor PB. The clash between Hugh and Peter in the forthcoming club outdoor championships will be one to watch out for. No pressure lads.
