Conor Duncan got his track season off to a great start when winning the grade B 1500m at the Dublin Graded meeting held in Santry tonight. Passing the 800m in a relatively slow 2 min 23 sec, Conor gradually applied the pressure on lap 3 and kicked away from a bunch of 6 over the last 400m to record a new PB (by over 20 seconds) of 4 min 11.58 sec. With a slightly faster opening couple of laps there is surely even more improvement to come from this dedicated & talented athlete.
At the same meet, Deirdre Healy contested the womens grade A 1500m. Lying third with 400m remaining, Deirdre attached down the back straight and was only reeled in over the last 80m when finishing a close second in 4 min 40.38 - a new PB by over 5 seconds. Deirdre also had the satisfaction of beating her fellow junior international, Clodagh O ' Reilly into third in what was a top class race
