The sixth series of Dublin graded races was held in Morton Stadium on 10 July. Weather conditions were perfect so we were expecting some good performances from the small group of Ratoath athletes that competed and we were not disappointed.
Eimear Griffin had the distinction of breaking not one but two PB's in the one race. She blasted the first 400m in 69 / 70 sec & went on to finish her 800m in 2 min 34.98 sec - an improvement of 3 sec on her previous best. Eimear looks set to crack 2 min 30 sec in the right race. Deirdre Healy was just outside her best time when finishing second in her 800m race in 2 min 24.57 sec. Her 200m splits of 34 sec, 36 sec, 37 sec and 37 sec would suggest that when Deirdre moves back to her preferred 1500m distance she is ready to unleash a big performance. Neil Finnegan won his 400m very comfortably in 54.43 sec from the unfavourable inside lane - 0.4 sec better than his PB while in the same race John Wallace showed that his nephew Eamonn is not the only speed merchant in the family and looks to be getting back to full fitness after some early season hamstring injuries.
