Meath Inter Club league-Day 2 Report


We had another good turnout for Day2 of the inter club league considering the tough conditions. Our u9 boys were in great form again with James Kelly winning the 250m followed home by Fionn Heffernan 2nd and Charlie O’ Connor 4th. The lads also dominated the long jump with James, Charlie and Fionn finishing 1st, 2nd and 3rd.  Katie Doherty had a strong run also winning the u9 girls 300m, with Erin Leeson 6th. Isabelle Wallace was in great jumping form again finishing 2nd in the u9 long jump with Erin close behind in 4th.
Caoimhe Fitzsimons and Ciara Coroner finished 2nd and 3rd overall in the girls u10 300m, Sophie Quinn and Laura Kelly finished 1st and 3rd in the u11 girls 300m, Niamh Murray and Laura Kelly finished 2nd and 3rd in the ball throw and Harry O’ Connor finished 4th in the boys u11 300m event.
Aimee Doherty won the girls u12 300m and finished 3rd in the high jump, Fionn Drummond finished 3rd in the u12 300m and 1st in the high jump. Aoife Rutherford and Lili O’Connor were 2nd and 3rd in the girls u13 600m and Tom Kilgannon finished 2nd in the boys 600m and shot putt.
Matthew Buckley and Adam Quinn were well clear of the chasing pack finishing 1st and 2nd in the boys u14 800m, Karen Hayes was a comfortable winner of the girls u15 800m with Maria Rogers an impressive 4th while Daragh Casey finished 4th in the boys event. Amber Roche and Aine O’Connor finished 3rd and 4th in the junior girls 800m.
Emma Coroner had yet another victory in the girl’s u14 long jump and Lara Power and Ivie Okome finished 3rd and 4th in the u15 shot putt. Hugh Kelly was in good form winning the Master’s 800m and discus, Siobheal Cummins finished 2nd in the Master Ladies discus. Conor Duncan stormed to victory in the senior men’s 800m destroying the field and winning by over 100m.
Thanks to all athletes and parents for making the trip to Navan, Day 3 of the league will be on Wednesday May 27th.
