Cross Country Champions
Ratoath Ac had some great results
at the Leinster un-even ages cross country held today at Adamastown, Co.
Wexford. The girls U11 team of Aimee Doherty, Ella Healy, Aoife Rutherford and
Lili O Connor took the Leinster Club Title with a score of 72 points, with
Kilkenny City Harriers 2nd and Mullingar Harriers in 3rd.
The Ratoath girls also took silver in the Counties event combining with Ciara
Smyth- Cushinstown Ac and Doireann NiFhlatharta- Dunboyne Ac.
Tom Kilgannon, Matthew Hayes and
Kyle Witter took part in the U11 boy’s event, Tom put in a good run finishing
19th, Matthew also put in a strong run in his first Leinster’s
finishing 62nd. Kyle Witter
who was moving up an age was very unfortunate suffering a fall at the start of the
race and got spiked in the process, but Kyle showed true guts and determination
got back on his feet to finish the race.
Karen Hayes put in a good performance
in the girls u13 2500m finishing 22nd, as did Aine O’ Connor who
finished 16th in the girls u15 3500m and was the 4th girl
home for Meath who finished 2nd in the counties event.
Alex Hunter- Ratoath Ac put in another good run to finish 4th in the boys U15-3500m, the race being
won by Alan Monaghan from Bohermeen in impressive style, the Meath team stormed
to victory in the counties event with 5 out of their first six point scorers
finishing in the top 12. Gareth Doyle finished 56th and Cormac and
Pierce Butler 81st and 82nd respectively.
Deirdre Healy (Ratoath Ac) took
silver in the girls U17 4000m to add to her gold from 2 weeks ago in the U18 even
ages Leinster Championships, Deirdre had a great run in a high quality field
and she looks to be getting stronger event by event. Philip Marron running up
and age finished 17th in the Boys U17 5000m and Ciaran McCarty
finished 37th.
