Our club had one runner, Eoin, in the Waterford Half Marathon (21.1km/13.1mi) on Jan 15th. The race was originally scheculed for December 18th, but had to be postponed due to ice and snow on the roads.
The weather for the race was awful. It rained the whole time and the first 11km had a strong headwind. Of course once the half way point was reached the wind was pushing you all the way home. The winner, Mareks Floroseks from West Waterford, came in at 1:12:28 and Eoin finished in 1:52:53 (chip timed).
It was a great course, mostly on the Waterford to Cork main road and the last 200m were on the all weather track in the Regional Sports Centre. The free post-race refreshments more than made up for the the terrible weather!
Congratulations to the 690 runners who completed the course. Official results here.
